Who we are
Tek It is a community marketplace for free and low-cost items in Jamaica, published by Hemiogenic Interactive LLC ("we", "us"). This policy explains what we collect and how we use it.
What we collect
Account info (an anonymous account identifier created when you start using the app, plus a display name if you add one), your approximate location (to show items near you and set where your listing is), photos you upload, the listings you post, items you save, messages and offers you send, reports you file and users you block, and — if you enable notifications — a push notification token for your device.
How your information is used
To show free and for-sale items near you, let you post and message about items, send you notifications you've opted into (such as new messages and offers), keep the service safe through reports, blocks and moderation, and improve the app. We do not sell your personal data.
Location. We use your device location only while the app is in use, to compute distance to listings and tag your own listings. You can deny location — the app still works with reduced accuracy.
Storage & security
We use Supabase to host our database, authentication, and photo storage. Your data is stored on their infrastructure under their security controls, with row-level security limiting who can read what. No system is 100% secure, but we keep access to your data restricted to what the app needs.
Sharing
Listings, photos, your display name and messages you send may be visible to other users — that's how a marketplace works. Beyond that, your data is shared only with our service provider (Supabase) to run the app. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with advertisers.
Your choices & deletion
You can deny or revoke location and notification permissions at any time, change notification and analytics preferences in Settings, report listings, and block users. You can permanently delete your account and all associated data — listings, photos, messages, saved items and your push token — from Settings → Delete Account inside the app. You can also email us to request deletion.
Children
Tek It is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from them; if you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
We may update this policy and will post the new version at this address before it takes effect.
